Act Your Way In

My best friend is in town from Lagos and hubby’s birthday is on Monday, so I woke up this morning feeling pretty good. I sluggishly walked to the bathroom, disrobed (that word makes me chuckle. Haha. Random thought.) Anyway I was about to walk in the shower when I glanced at the mirror and thought “I should just get my work out in, now”. I honestly didn’t feel like it so I went back and forth in my head and finally thought “Do it, get it over with and enjoy the results”

I grabbed some work out pants that were close, grabbed Ife’s under shirt (Thought it was mine but oh well. Lol) and went back in my room. The TV was on so as I watched some show, I began my workout. I dropped to the floor, did 15 crunches, 15 leg raises with a twist,  then grabbed my phone, timed a 30 second plank and then did 15 squats with weights.

I was tempted to just walk away and call it a session but I pushed myself thinking “Moren, just do it”. So I started Set 2. From the crunches, to the leg raises, to the plank and squats. It was more of a challenge this time to complete the counts and the 30 seconds but not unbearable so I did. By Set 3, my heart rate was up there and with each exercise, as I got to count 12 I was tempted to just stop and move to the next one. It was tough but I kept pushing to complete them with good form. By the time I was done, I was glad it was over but I could feel my work and I felt like a million bucks!

I find that one of the biggest challenges of working out on your own and especially at home is completing the counts and keeping proper form for each exercise. We tend to do enough up until we feel the burn then we stop or barely complete them and move on to the next exercise. I mean who is going to tell you not to? You can conveniently pretend to have missed your count and jump from 4 to 8. Lol. You may not feel like it but like I heard a pastor say “Sometimes you have to act your way into a feeling”. So always try to find the push to start and finish right. Act your way into feeling great! It’s not always going to be easy but it’s ALWAYS so worth it. Let’s do this!
