Define Your Moments

Growing up, I always wondered how it happened. In school I looked around me and we were all ambitious. We had big dreams and big ideas, but when I looked at the parents of kids around, my observations were not consistent.

Most appeared to be living amazing lives while some seemed to be seriously struggling but I did not understand where it went wrong. I imagined that they all had the same hopes and dreams at my age. They all wanted to be great, change the world, be super rich and comfortable. They wanted to take nice vacations, marry the perfect spouse and have amazing kids to enjoy them with. They wanted… But what happened

The day I graduated college, this had to be it. The point where people went off track. The defining moment. Now you were going into the real world. It was not all planned out. This was the chance to make your dreams come true and be truly great.

3 years from that day I sit and wonder. I realize that we all truly have those dreams but there is no grand defining moment. Each day passes like the last but gives you a million opportunities to be great. From a joke turned idea, to a problem turned solution, to a simple conversation that makes you take action.

Each second that passes is a defining moment. Did  you go to that party, give he/she your number, pick up when they called, say yes when he asked to be in a relationship? Which of the 3 job offers did you take, where did you decide to live, and who did you invite to your home? Did you eat breakfast, take a break to workout and do your best to care for your body? Did you leave that relationship or did you stay and truly forgive.  Did you act on that idea, did you give it your best shot, did you last long enough to reap the rewards?

See,  Every little decision builds up into this massive bundle we reflect on as life. So I realized it is a waste of my time to worry about defining moments but instead stand my ground and define my moments one decision at a time
