How To Get Motivated

I had taken a lunch break from work and decided to get my workout in. I changed clothes, threw on some shoes and headed to the gym. As I turned the key and the engine went off, so did any part of me that wanted to go workout. I sat there going through social media as I tried to snap out of it and do what I needed to do but it just didn’t work. Then I tried convincing my arms and legs to make moves to get out of the car but 10 minutes later, there I still was. In that moment I realized it just wasn’t going to happen and I had things to do… So I turned the car back on and drove to work. *Covers face*

People think motivation is innate and everlasting. They imagine that those who are actually committed are that way because somehow the process is easier for them but in reality that could not be further from the truth.

Later that evening, it was time to try again. My gym bag was already packed, I just needed to make it to the gym and actually go in this time. Lol. Of course as I was about to leave, I could not find my keys. The forces were at work. Haha. I searched and searched then eventually found it in the fridge (Don’t even ask)… As I pulled up to the gym, without thinking about it, I grabbed my stuff went in and did some cardio and strength training. As much as it sucked to start, I felt like wonder woman when I was done and that right there is the feeling that pushes me to keep at it.

The thing about Fitness is that consistency is key. It is not enough to do it today alone or this week only and then you are set for life. Honestly, it would be nice if it worked that way. Instead it encompasses the decisions you make from day to day and week to week. To be successful, you have to be deliberate. There is no magic pill or waist trimmer that will truly help you reach your goals. Understanding your body makes the process so much simpler but your commitment is crucial.

So whether your goal is to lose weight, get toned or gain weight, understand that it starts with your ability to just go for it. Motivation won’t just come but as you build on it, your results motivate you and the amazing feeling pushes you. So make up your mind to get it in today. Trust me, you got this!
