No pressure is pressure enough

I was at the airport heading out of town for a wedding. Starving, I decided to order some food. I paid attention to the calories and decided on a 2 pc chicken with a small side of Cajun rice. Then I went to meet Ife at the bagel store he was ordering from. He looked like he was struggling… “So I have the bacon, egg and cheese sandwich, the chocolate chip bagel with plain cream cheese…. But that bagel with salmon cream cheese sounds so good!” He deliberated for a moment then eventually decided to get all 3

He knew it was a lot of food but he just wanted to try it. As we sat to eat, I asked to taste his bagel with salmon cream cheese. It was really good but I kept eating my food. I wanted another taste of it but it was finished so I decided to try the chocolate chip bagel. My goodness! My taste buds were losing it. I went from a bite to almost finishing it and just so I knew what the bacon, egg and cheese sandwich tasted like, I had a few bites of it too.
no pressure is pressure enough
Honestly, it all happened so quick that I didn’t even remember to think about my body or calories. In my mind I was giving myself a treat that I had not gotten in a while. As soon as I was done, the “that’s so delicious” thought disappeared and I was just too full. I could tell my body was not pleased and the satisfaction I got from eating it was now a distant memory.
So what now? I was confused, I thought I had it all figured out so what went wrong? I beat myself up a bit but then I realized I had worked too hard to cry over spilt milk. The important thing was giving it a second thought, recognizing that it was unnecessary and choosing to do better moving forward.

For me working to get fit has been an interesting ride and very rewarding. I have focused on getting fit with no pressure by not trying to change everything at once and not doing “healthy stuff” just because everyone else was. That being said, it still is a challenge that requires effort and determination. My point? No pressure is pressure enough so don’t add anymore just because you made a bad decision. Learn from it and move on. Remember, Lifestyle change, not crash diet. Let’s do this!
