Hit and Run

I was sitting in the passenger sit next to hubby as we ran our last errand for the day. I had so much going on that though it was 10:00pm on a Friday night, it didn’t feel like it. The running around was for me but Hubby was such a trooper that you couldn’t even tell how long a day he had.

As we drove back, I needed a break. I wanted quiet, just me and him. No one else. I am so dramatic,  missing our alone time for even a few days makes me feel like I haven’t seen him in forever.  Haha. I look over to him “Babe, can we go get some cold stone”.  I knew he was tired, so there was chance he’d say no but instead he replied “Sure, babe”

I could tell he knew I was exhausted and I just wanted to chill. As we drove up, they had live music playing in the streets. Ladies in their little black dresses and men dressed to the Tee. Dressed oh so casually, we walked down to cold stone and there it was my “Chocolate Devotion” My goodness! Something in this chocolaty goodness just made the birds sing a little different. I ordered the smallest size and it was still 480 calories. I had planned ahead and decided I would only have half of it.

As hubby and I walked down the street, we talked and laughed as this little cup of desert gave me life. We were about to walk past a trash can when I realized I was so close to  the half way mark and it was time to let go… I thought about it as I drifted out of our conversation, you would have thought it was a matter of life or death. I kept talking myself in and out of it but the moment to choose was now! Eat it all, or ditch it. As I reached the trash can, I took the last spoon, dropped the rest and walked away. Bummed out and proud at the same time, I knew I did what needed to be done.

Okay, I lied, I didn’t want to sound like that bad person that trashes public places… It wasn’t a trash can, it was a table sitting on the side of the road…haha. Don’t judge me! I had only a few seconds to make a decision *Covers face*… Hit and run.

Sometimes, you don’t feel like doing what is best for your body, but every better decision, no matter how small, makes a huge difference. Think of it this way… “Every spoon I didn’t eat, was one less spoon that my body had to process”. So even if you can’t make big changes now, start with small ones you can afford and do a little dance every time you win. Have a fab day and please share if you enjoyed the post.
