December 2011, Ife and I had been dating for over a year and decided to write our expectations for 2012. By the end of 2012, like 15/18 things on the list had become realities. Like “to be closer to getting married”… We got engaged in March and “to buy a house together”…we moved in November. it was mind blowing and we just stood in awe of how amazing God is. So trust that when it came to do my 2013 list, my faith had no bounds. Lol.
Now I look through my list and realize that God’s plans for us are much better than ours. We had awesome testimonies like the amazing wedding and honeymoon, The success of Ife’s surgeries, career and financial successes but in the same token, a bunch of my exaggerated signs and wonders didn’t quite happen. Lol
2013 had some challenges that I really could have lived without but the truth is, each one taught major lessons that God knew needed to be learned. This year, I grew up, I learned even more on how important family is, I was reminded about loving myself and on top of that, I received best gift… Makkoy
For my 2014 list, I am focused on staying grounded while trusting God. And since fitness is now a big part of my life, I started working on my fitness goals and they sounded something like…I will workout x amount of times a week, I will resume my sessions with my trainer, I will continue to make better choices on food like eat x, y and z.
Just as I was about to get a headache from these thoughts, it clicked to me.. The same way I don’t include “in 2014, I will breathe”, I do not need to include these types of goals. Instead my fitness expectations for 2014 became very simple… I will continue to learn how my body works and continue building a sustainable lifestyle based on my learnings.
It will still require discipline and effort but It’s always about my lifestyle, not frustrating rules to drive me nuts! So as you make those resolutions stay focused on your lifestyle and let’s make 2014 great! Makkoy… Lets do this!!!
Be grateful and have an amazing new year folks!!!!!
Happy new year and thanks for sharing on 3six5woman.
My new year resolution is to stay focused. sometimes it’s easier said than done but this year like you, I want to stay grounded!
2014…..let’s do this
Love the how you simplified the fitness goal and made it flexible enough to adapt to whatever your body will need this year. And Yes! God’s gifts will always exceed our plans ever so abundantly! Your eyes have not seen, and your ears have not heard just how much more he will do in 2014!
