“Moren! I am so excited about the ignition program! I have seen it work and I am ready to take control of my fitness” it was week one of the ignition program for one of my awesome clients. She had tried all sorts to get fit but nothing seemed to stick. She continued “I love that it’s a lifestyle change and that’s what I need but meiiiiinnnn I just want to get rid of this gut!” Then she burst out laughing. See, belly fat is one of those problem areas that seems to just torture most people so the question is how do you get rid of belly fat???? Here are 5 simple things you should know to help you get rid of it!!
1) Get a reality check: The way your body stores excess fat in the body is determined mostly by genetics. This means that you have NO WAY to naturally redirect the fat from your belly to your butt or anywhere else. You are most welcome. Lol. Understanding this is crucial so you can save yourself the heart ache of unrealistic expectations and focus on accomplishing your goals in a productive way. [newsletter_lock]
2) Realize you lose where you gain: So now that you know you can’t change where the fat goes, the good news is this, your “problem areas” are the areas where you will end up seeing your fitness results. The body tends to lose fat from the areas where it stores it. So if you focus on your overall fitness then without even stressing about those problem areas, you suddenly get control of them. Now calm down it won’t happen in 2 days but with the next few points you’ll get there.
3) Pick the right medicine: Cardio or Strength? Cardio will burn calories and use up fat while strength training will strengthen and grow muscles. Know why you are doing any workout that you choose, don’t spend 3 hours lifting weights and be mad that you are not losing weight. The body is not just a mental patient that does as it pleases. EVERY decision you make causes a specific response in the body.
4) You really wish this wasn’t on the list but it really should be number 1: Your food is important. Eating healthy does not mean eating disgusting foods… You know, the assumption that the nastier it is, the better it must be for you. But getting a real understanding of the food groups and how they are needed in the body allows you to take control of what you eat. Eat to cater to the needs of your body and the results are amazing!
5) You get what you put in!: That’s the honest truth, you can’t spend your day lifting just pizzas & candy(haha) and expect a 6 pack but trust me, it is soooo worth it!
