Back from my trip to Lagos, I was pumped and ready to go. With so many great meetings and new opportunities in motion, 2015 had already begun to look like the year of the unimaginable and I was ready for it.
That night, after a long day, it was chill time. As you know the introvert in me adores this time… it was just me, my bed and the remote control. I turned on the tv and it was on some show about Jennifer Lopez. I was just about to change the channel, when she started performing a song I loved from back in the day so I held off and kept watching.
Before I knew it, I was static and completely drawn into the show. It was a about her last world tour. The tour began in June 2012 and continued through December 2012 with 79 shows and 56 million dollars at the box office. Yup, 56 million! She took her mum and kids and had a whole crew of performers with her on tour. The show was a behind the scenes look at what it took for her to pull off the entire tour.
I was amazed as I saw shots of her perform at different shows. The energy in each one was like it was the first show. The dancing and physical toll it must have taken is hard to imagine. Being a fitness coach, as I watched each dance move, I could see the physical and mental commitment it took her and her team to get there. The dedication was unreal. Life was still happening, birthdays came, wardrobe malfunctions, unscheduled press meetings and on and on… yet she had to publicly handle it all with class and do what needed to be done.
As I lay there, I thought to myself “Are you really willing to do what it takes? Will you go all the way?” This is a big question that most people don’t think about. They think of the glamorous returns like $56,000,000 and ignore the work that comes with it. This could not be more true with fitness. Everyone wants the abs, the definition, the stamina but are you willing to do what it takes?
For me, 2015 is going to be really simple: Give it all you got. It’s not just about resolutions, or decisions that lead to regrets by the end of the year which birth new resolutions to make 2016 great; it’s about putting in the work here and now to get the results I want in every area of my life. Join me, Give this year all you’ve got and let’s make 2015 so much more than words can explain! Let”s do this!
