2 weeks or 2 months… Don’t lose!

I had been engaged a few months and getting wedding ready was on my mind. With 8 months until the wedding, I was sure that I was going to make this happen.

My first day, I must have taking 15 minutes to get dressed in workout clothes. Maybe 2 minutes taking pictures of me about to work out and another 5 stretching. Finally I walked out the door, looked at the time and set out to the streets to jog. It was rough but I was determined so I kept pushing myself and continued until I was completely exhausted. I made it back home, grabbed some water, landed in my couch then checked the time again.  4 minutes?!?! Whatt!!! Lol

I kept at it. Soon enough my timing increased and in about a month I found myself running too! I was so proud. I literally saw my stamina transform. I didn’t lose weight on the scale but it was very obvious that I had come a long way from where I started.

I was doing great until one day I woke up and I hadn’t been out in months. I hyped myself up, grabbed my workout clothes and hit the road. I started jogging and to my surprise my legs were not cooperating. I lasted more than 4 minutes but it was just so disappointing to see my body decline and act like jogging/running was a foreign concept

Today, I was taken back to this as I took a class from my group fitness certification course. Turns out if you stop exercising your fitness adaptations reverse. Basically you become as fit or even less fit than you were before. See, it takes as little as 2-3 weeks to lose the benefits your body gains from cardio exercises and 2-3 months to lose the benefits from strength training and endurance.

What I learned from this? I have worked too hard to let 2 weeks or 2 months pass! If you have not started your journey, now is a great time to start!… and if you already have, don’t quit and lose all your hard work. Give it your best shot! Lifestyle change not crash diet. Let’s do this!
